Working with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, TAG designed improvements and additions to the Gulf State Park Campgrounds that include a new pool house and pool, a new nature center building, renovation of the existing campstore building, renovation of the existing registration building, a new boat house and boat docks, a new recreation area (tennis courts and horseshoe pits), and site work between the main cluster of buildings.
The pool house and deck are raised approximately 5’ above grade and are held back by 750 linear feet of retaining wall. The custom designed pool is 5200 SF and ranges from 2-6 feet deep. The pool deck also contains a child safe splash pad with padded paving and automated fountains.
The Nature Center Building is raised 7-8 feet on round timber piles with a covered, wrap-around deck. It will serve as a living museum for native plants and animals of the Gulf Coast.
The campstore and registration buildings received face-lifts consisting of new standing seam metal roofs, new stucco finish to match adjacent buildings and new aluminum railings.
New docks and a boat house were also constructed providing paddle boat and canoe access to Middle Lake.
